In the wake of recent challenges brought forth by the devastating floods in our beloved Margate area, we find ourselves in a deep moment of reflection and resilience. The start of 2024 has brought its share of obstacles, yet we have managed to preserve the cherished warmth of your "Little Italy" along the Hibiscus Coast. Despite the

tumult, we're thankful for the opportunity to reconnect with you, our valued Shareholders, and to reflect on the journey of the past six months. Take a moment to unwind and join us on a virtual voyage through the events that have unfolded in and around your home-away-from-home since your last visit.

As many of you are likely aware, on the evening of Sunday, 14 April 2024, the sunny South Coast in the Margate area was disrupted by heavy rainfall which led to a destructive flood. This natural event caused damage to roads, flooding of buildings, uprooted trees, and overflowing rivers. And Uvongo River Resort, was not spared from the effects of the flood. Unfortunately, three of our units were flooded, which required us to move the guests occupying the space to higher units. The laundry room, stores and Resort gardens were affected, while access to roads also became extremely difficult to navigate around the Margate area.

Regrettably, amidst this adversity, five individuals lost their lives due to the harsh conditions in the area. The entire Team at Uvongo extends our deepest sympathies to all those affected by this heart-breaking occurrence. Though words may seem inadequate, please know that our thoughts, prayers, and heartfelt condolences are with each and every person affected. Together, may we find solace in each other's embrace and strength in our shared resilience!

Laundry Area
A wooden fence and steel gate were installed around the operation hub to restrict access.

Patio
The brown balustrades on the patios of the units were repainted in white for a more modern look.

Workshop Area
A canopy was set up in the workshop area to accommodate staff meetings and work projects during the rainy season.

Inverter System
The inverter system was upgraded from 5kva to 16kva to accommodate the CCTV system, electric fence and the Reception and Management Offices..

Solar Power Lights
23 spotlights have been installed to light-up the Resort during
load-shedding.

Double Bed Matrasses
All 57 units have received new double bed mattresses.

Play Area
A seesaw was added to the play area.

Floor Tiles
Unit 11 recieved new floor tiles due to damages.

NEWS FLASH

The DSTV system is currently being upgraded. Our guests will now have a choice to choose from 24 channels to 80 channels. The upgrade is estimated to be completed by middle August 2024.

Christmas Day

Uvongo’s Reception Team decided to shake things up this Christmas by moving from the classic red and white theme. Instead, they went all-in on gnomes, swapping out jolly old Santa for these whimsical little fellows. And to spread the holiday cheer even further, each guest received a snazzy Uvongo River Resort branded towel in their units, the perfect accessory for their sunny holiday adventures!

New Year’s Eve

In honour of the New Year transition, we hosted a masquerade-themed welcome event! Our Reception area was transformed into a shimmering paradise with gold and black decorations. Upon arrival, every guest was greeted with a complimentary bottle of non-alcoholic sparkling cocktail, adding an extra touch of sparkle to the occasion. And let's not forget our dedicated Team, who arrived dressed in their finest black and gold attire, ready to greet each guest with enthusiasm and warmth.

Valentine’s Day

Romance filled the air on Valentine's Day at Uvongo, where puzzles were the theme of the day! Each guest was pleasantly surprised to receive not just one, but two key holders cleverly interlocked like puzzle pieces. This thoughtful gesture served as a beautiful symbol of unity and connection, adding an extra layer of romance to their getaway experience. To sweeten the occasion even further, guests were also treated to delicious ice cream.

Easter Weekend

The Resort was bursting with excitement this Easter! Tinny bunny nests dotted the Reception area, setting the stage for an egg-citing Easter hunt. The winners received a gift voucher for a scrumptious treat at The Waffle House in Ramsgate. Laughter and joy filled the air as everyone participated in the festivities. The staff was dressed in their adorable Easter attire, spreading cheer throughout the Resort. And to top it off, guests enjoyed refreshing fruit kebabs.

Mother’s Day

We ensured that all the mothers felt extra special this Mother's Day, pulling out all the stops! The Reception area was beautifully decorated to add to the festivities. Upon check-in, our guests received a charming branded glass mug filled with delicious chocolate treats and a Mother's Day card.
