Roodeplaat Dam, situated just north-east of Pretoria, isn’t only a popular fishing and boating destination — it’s also home to a variety of fascinating mammals. While it’s not a Big 5 reserve, it boasts a range of antelope species and small to medium-sized mammals that are well worth seeking out.

Zebra

The black-and-white fashionistas of the veld. No two zebras have the same stripes — they’re the fingerprint of the bush. Whether grazing peacefully or galloping as a herd, zebras bring an unmistakable wild charm to the open plains near the dam.

Kudu

Tall, regal, and a little shy — kudus are the antelope kings and queens of the bush. Males sport magnificent spiral horns, while both genders wear delicate white stripes down their sides, like nature’s own designer suits.

Waterbuck

These shaggy-coated antelope come with built-in bathroom targets — the famous white ring on their backsides! Always sticking close to water, they smell a bit musky, but it helps keep predators at bay.

We’re thrilled to let you in on some exciting news — Manzi Monaté has a brand-new property management system, HotelTime! This system is designed to simplify our day-to-day operations and, most importantly, make your stays even more enjoyable. From reservations and check-ins to billing and reporting, HotelTime helps us run things smoothly behind the scenes. It’s a big step toward modernising our Resort and ensuring every visit is as seamless and memorable as possible.

CHRISTMAS

This was hands down the most festive Christmas we've ever had! The entire Resort came alive with twinkling lights, cheerful decorations, and a contagious holiday spirit that could be felt everywhere you went. The Reception Area was beautifully decorated, setting the tone the moment guests arrived — and the sweet treats during check-in were such a thoughtful touch. The pool area was the heart of the fun, lit up and buzzing with music, laughter, and families making the most of the summer holiday. It truly felt like a celebration around every corner!

VALENTINE'S DAY

Was there romance in the air? Absolutely! This Valentine’s Day, we went all out to spoil our wonderful guests. The Reception was decked out with beautiful red, white, and black balloons, a table overflowing with chocolates and ‘I Love You’ cookies, and of course, soft swirl ice cream to sweeten the day.

But that’s not all! When guests arrived at their units, they were welcomed with a beautifully made bed adorned with a bouquet of fresh flowers, decadent chocolates, and heart-shaped swan towel origami — the perfect touch to a day filled with love.

EASTER WEEKEND REFLECTIONS

Over the Easter weekend, we took a moment to pause and reflect, embracing the spirit of renewal and togetherness. Guests and staff alike enjoyed the tranquil atmosphere, shared in moments of gratitude, and celebrated in a warm, respectful way. Whether it was a quiet walk, a shared meal, or a simple greeting, the Easter spirit was felt throughout the Resort.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to making it a meaningful and memorable weekend.

Itumeleng is the Maintenance Supervisor at Manzi Monaté, bringing 7 years of experience in maintenance and facilities management. He oversees all maintenance operations — from preventative care to repairs and team leadership — ensuring everything runs safely, smoothly, and efficiently.
